Chapter 5
1.
Does Sookan enjoy babysitting? Why or why not?
Sookan enjoyed babysitting and said that she enjoyed playing
with the children. It made her uneasy to know that she was being paid for being
with them.
2.
While babysitting, what does she learn about the
roles of men and women in the U.S. that is different from their roles in Korea?
When Sookan went to babysit, she saw Professor Bennett
cooking breakfast. In Korea, a man would never work in the kitchen at home.
3.
If you were babysitting, would you have done all
of the extra things that Sookan did? Why or why not? Why do you think she did
them?
Sookan did those things because they needed to be done and
because she was grateful for not just the job, but the opportunity in her
life. I admire her for doing all of the
extra things and I would have done at least some of them. I may have been too
lazy to do all of the things that she did.
